The orange line in this painting isn't straight. I guess I need to use a straight edge when painting lines. After I posted this I went back and corrected it. Looking at the painting now the I'm not sure about the orange line and the way it divides the paper.

You could have something very interesting going on here, Cathy. Think about the blue-green to blue on the right edge moving to the red (I would tone down that pure orange a bit) and red-violet and violet on the left edge - a whole gamut of the color wheel moving through and then the bright red of the flowers accent marks :) Very cool!
That orange line helps create an interesting white shape which is quiet enuf to be up in the corner. The whole painting is GREAT! Luscious colors and nice division of cool and warm areas. Love those lost and found edges which give so much movement and depth to the painting - so watercolor!
Sandy,thank you so much for the advise and encouragement. I was thinking I needed to fill the white space,but often times when I do I wish I had it back.
Rhonda, I know my colors are just goin craaazzzy lately. I get in the middle of a painting and can't stop myself. When I look back at my posts, i know I am for sure a color crazed gal:)
Cathy, ouuu this is so vibrant!! the strength of your colors is exhilarating... I love this boldness!
I have to agree with Sandy and Gwen. The colors are so strong confident. I don't know what the orange shape is, but it doesn't matter and doesn't matter either that the edge of it isn't perpendicular; it makes a nice, quiet negative space.
(If it really bothers you, I would say just try softening the edge a tiny bit: paint a line of clear water over the edge and let it diffuse slightly? If all or only part of the line were softer, it might not be so commanding.)
Hi Cathy. Re DSFDF: I was intimidated too and wasn't sure my image quality met KJ's requirements, so when I sent my first entry I added a note saying if the image didn't appear on her blog, I'd assume the image quality wasn't right. Well, the image appeared, so I keep doing the same thing.

Hi Cathy - how nice to meet you (your commented on my little red door post). Came whizzing over this morning to see what you do and had such a wonderful surprise - all those colourful flowers (my passion) painted so freely. I do so often wish I could do wet on wet like this. BTW, our film choice is almost identical!!
