This is my latest batch of acrylic paintings. I would like to thank all of the bloggers for their support and for sharing all of their knowledge and talent! Happy Holidays and peace to all.
This is a sampling of paintings I have been working on recently. Acrylics continue to challenge me but I really enjoy the colors and how forgiving the media is. I'm learning to mix colors and blend, which is super challenging. Also, with acrylic I've noticed how brush size and strokes impact the overall painting. My classes resume in February so that should help. Ultimately the process is enjoyable and the freedom to explore color is wonderful.
Learning to paint with acrylics is an adventure in color and forgiveness. This is medium is so different from watercolor. Still it's interesting that my knowledge from watercolor contributes to my acrylic paintings. I am crazy about the vibrant colors one can achieve; it's almost sinful, but entirely fun and indulgent.
I have been away all summer. Now that I am retired I have begun taking art classes. These are a few of my works in progress awaiting direction from my teacher. I look forward to more postings this fall and hope you all will join me once again.xo
The top painting was all but gone when i started to play with a more expanded palette, i like the blue outlining the parts of the painting. Middle painting, was getting a bit to dull for my taste so i added watercolor pencil and i think it added some zip.My grand baby needs a bit of blue under her nose. She is far to beautiful to paint and oh did i mention SWEET!
Learning to paint with acrylics is so challenging and really fun. Don't like it paint over it and practice some more. It's all new, paint selection, mixing, brushes and strokes. No doubt this piece will be history come morning. Maybe back to watercolor tomorrow... decisions, decisions!
Today i painted in acrylic, which is new and SO different than watercolor. I am still working on the pears and the mess on the bottom is well... learning to paint! Fun!
Another day another painting. I sketched this loose painting and used mainly Windsor Newton yellows, blues, greens and scarlet lake then added watercolor pencil.
