Glads

Well the few paintings I have completed lately have been scary bad. It seems I have lost my ability to do detailed paintings of chosen subjects. Instead I find myself considering color over everything. In this painting of Glads, Iwas sickend by the orange I used as and accent color.

I decided to try to salvage the painting by cropping it and adding pastel and wc pencils. So the result is ... not sure yet need to take a break and look at it later.

Meanwhile I just needed to post something.

I'm glad you did post your macro painting.

I like the linework throughout and the colors in this, Cathy. Perhaps a few test swatches to check the colors before putting them together will make you more sure of what colors you want...but I don't see a thing wrong with the colors in this!

I like this - I'm particularly fond of purple and orange together actually. :) But, they definitely do have to be exactly the right shades for each.

But, like Rhonda, I don't see anything wrong with this one - it caught my eye right away (in a good way!).

I think that when we suddenly find ourselves unable to do anything right, we need to remember it's a mindset and usually has nothing to do with reality.
I'm guessing that your brain is just ready to do something new or go somewhere else with your art - something your not so well practiced at yet - and that's where the feelings coming from. A struggle moving forward instead of any kind of slip backwards.

My two cents anyway! Your paintings only seem to be looking better and better to me!
