April virtual sketch date

This is my first attempt at the vsd photo of a rhododendron. I begin a painting class this week and am planning on working more on this painting or doing another version.
I am going to give this another try tonight and will post tomorrow... if everything works out!

kitchen table

A painting of flowers on my kitchen table. Watercolor, pastel and watercolor pencil.Oops need to fix the table on the left.

Daniel Smith's sale catalog just arrived and the watercolor crayons look inviting. Also, I'm curious about brushes, what are your preferences? My sable brush paints much different from the blends?

Time

This week I have time. Time to practice painting, read, walk, breath, think ... spring break! The painting is my guest room chair piled high with pillows. I took the photo of the clock works in an antique store.

Easter morning

I spent Easter morning painting. The top daffodil is really my favorite. It started out as as flower practice, color practice and actually a paint doodle. The bottom painting is watercolor, watercolor pencil and pastel. The flower and composition aren't so great but I do love the color. I also painted my bathroom door. I love the antique basket that holds flowers from last years garden.
(the actual paintings do not appear as textured and overworked. The photo's of the flowers were trimmed and it changed their actual appearance)

crop job

I posted a dreadful painting the other day that was so horrible I removed the post. It was scary! Today I cropped that painting into 4x6's and I think I am much happier. Perhaps I will make a grouping with them.Oh, and I will get rid of the pencil line in the top drawing or maybe emphasize it with water color pencil or pastel?

wip

Lately just about every painting I have attempted has failed. There is so many failed paintings littering the floor of my art space that I can barely walk. So yesterday I decided to SLOW down and be a little less bold with my strokes. So now I'm thinking I can get a jazzy with the background. With any luck it may actually turn out!
