playing with new brushes...

I bought a few new brushes-some soft and supple others stiff, most of them bigger than what i have used in the past. So of course i had to  play- swish and swash- play all day. These are a few of the products , Freezing in Michigan-waiting for spring!

1,2,3

The top painting is almost done just a few more embellishments and it's a wrap!
The middle painting is complete it is inspired by waterlilies but as with most of my paintings it evolved throughout the painting process. The last painting is a still life from my painting class. We used a limited palette for the still life itself but we could choose the background. I still have a few things to add, such as, work on the tall vase and add fish to the lid;but this requires my being in class to see it:)  It's freezing in Michigan and, while being a fan of winter, i can honestly say that i am ready for spring:) Pray for Peace.

abstracts

Good morning paintings. These paintings evolved over time;the top painting is a 10x10 and the bottom painting is yet another 5x7; which i find perfect for practice, and to both  learn and experiment with new techniques.

painting #3 redo:)

I knew something was not working with the third painting from the previous post- so i painted over portions of it and added paint here and there. I am more comfortable with the painting now. I may need to vary the size of the paint dabs because it seems busy but i must say i don't miss the stems and leaves.

flower,flower,flower,pear,and a bird...

Small paintings this week-they are 3x3 and 5x7's . The top painting is complete, that is i don't want to change anything on it. the The second painting is sort of a study in cool colors , i don't mind that one either. I am thinking the  second rose painting could use some color changes, perhaps some more warm colors-something is bothering me-not sure quite what it is. The pears are finished while the bird is evolving. I can't tell you how many times i have changed backgrounds and the birds shape and position; now though, i feel i have  the correct proportions. Poor bird had a giant head for while. Well off to paint in the bitter cold, snowy and glorious winter!
