Just in time...

I have been painting all summer. Falling in and out of love with color and my paintings, surrounding myself with nests of art and books and of course walking my dogs. Enjoying the weather and good friends. Life is really as good as it gets.

Ready,Set,Show.....

I am participating in an art show this weekend and so i have been busy getting ready;adding finishing touches, sorting and pricing. My space is roughly the size of a door-so i arranged my paintings on the floor to see how the paintings will fit. I have additional small watercolors to hang or set on a shelf . This should be a fun weekend i am anxiously awaiting the show. Happy summer.

Dog days

Happy weekend-i have been painting nearly everyday and enjoying it thoroughly. The top painting of the bull dog is a gift for a friend who just lost her beloved Lily. The second painting is a reworked painting that was posted in the previous post. The third painting is mixed media, very crude but the colors call me;not sure why? I am still working on the bottom painting.  I found the dog painting rather enjoyable and i think i will be doing more-perhaps my two beasts:)

Paintings in progress...

I am working on the two posted paintings. The top painting needs something-the colors are off but the composition,i feel, is good. So i am working on solving the problem. The best part of solving a problem is learning something new-such a pleasant path to be taking. The bottom painting need only a few changes and is less problematic to me.

daily painting

12x14 painting finished. I started out painting from a photo and then let my imagination take over
. 5x7 birds nest is really a delightful little painting it is a painting redo of god knows what!
5x7 purple explosion -painting redo.
another small redo, using my imagination and playing .
5x10 redo actually this didn't photograph that wekk
5x7 redo
In progress 5x10. Painting daily has really helped me develop my painting style. I am more confident and generally begin my paintings with a photo or an idea -perhaps colors or shapes then i let the painting evolve. At times i let the painting find itself -by that i mean i apply color until i find shapes and get ideas. Mainly i try to not be a slave to the painting, i worked far to long to let this pleasure become that - work that is.

Busy brushes

My obsession with flowers continues. I have been painting throughout the month -almost daily. My class encourages me to pursue my art. I am so thankful to have time to paint, read and walk my dogs. I am more than blessed.

1,2,3

The top painting is almost done just a few more embellishments and it's a wrap!
The middle painting is complete it is inspired by waterlilies but as with most of my paintings it evolved throughout the painting process. The last painting is a still life from my painting class. We used a limited palette for the still life itself but we could choose the background. I still have a few things to add, such as, work on the tall vase and add fish to the lid;but this requires my being in class to see it:)  It's freezing in Michigan and, while being a fan of winter, i can honestly say that i am ready for spring:) Pray for Peace.
