Early morning painting

Every time i begin a painting it's almost as if i am learning to paint again. I ask myself the basic questions over and over and can't find the answer. Then the brush takes over, i will catch myself saying... LEAVE IT,but then i don't.

Painting this i remembered my teacher putting in bits of dark in paintings that really helped lift the colors. Sometimes i think good painters do just that they know where to add the dots and dabs.

I really like this a lot. I love the colors you've chosen. Maybe you should not worry and just let the brush go!

Some of those great artists just don't show us all the paintings that they have messed up royally. My art teacher decided to show us some of his crummy work and we were greatly encouraged. LOL

Hey Cathy, send me your address via e-mail. I am at hireart321@gmail.com
and I will get the Calla Lily to you ASAP.

I love this painting, great colors!
What Christine said is true: you don't see the paintings they throw away! It is a mysterious process, painting...

Cathy, I do not know about the dots and dabs, but your work is always a treat to the eyes.

I watched a painting dvd where the chap was only painting flowers and he put a strong dark next to the light.. and that made his work sing.

Your flowers look gorgeous as they are. :) xx

I love the colours in this. If anyone thinks watercolour is wishy-washy, they only need to visit your blog to be proven wrong! It is true, to lift the lights you must add the darks - This is something I am only just beginning to get to grips with myself! :0)

Yes, Cathy. The darks really give it dimension! Wow. Just beautiful.

Stay warm. Spring will come.
