One True Thing

I HATE this painting. I have worked on it for days; cropping, painting, painting again and again, adding pastel now I admit defeat!!! (I must admit I did learn a thing or two... but still ugh) Good thing today is trash day. I guess I'll go shovel the mountain of snow of my patio so that it doesn't melt into our basement. Better yet, I'm of to the market to buy some fresh tulips ...

Sometimes there are works that we just don't seem to get right...or at least the way we intend to . I for example like these tulips and how you used pastels with the watercolor , to me this is great !

Love the sentiments. You had the courage to show what you did not like. I do not have it. Any way it is not all that bad.

I'm sure just leaving your painting aside for a day will give you a new perspective. Doesn't need much work at this stage. Smells like spring on your blog! :) Happy Valentine 's Day!

LOLOLOL! While I know exactly how you feel I don't hate this painting at all. I actually like it.

I wish we would have a trash day. All of our sanitation trucks are plowing the streets and spreading salt. We have snow and ice encrusted trash everywhere!

I find I begin to hate paintings too when I've been working on them for what, to me, for whatever reason, seems too long!
When you're not pleased, move on.
I think tulips, though they look simple, are hard to paint: these have your always beautiful, fresh, expressive color: no sign of your frustration.
