This painting began with my new Christmas tube of paint. Yes i was disciplined at the art supply store and only bought a single tube of paint. The color is Holbein vermilion. So i played and am enjoying a mix of vermilion and magenta. This is a much larger painting that i didn't really care for.... composition issues. The winter is a good time to start working on sketching again. Try out some new ideas. Happy New Year.

Happy New Year! Cathy and yes we can begin playing in a whole brand new year.. Lets hope to accomplish something spectacular!! (well its a thought)!
You make me smile: one tube of paint. There is something profoundly wonderful about that, Cathy.
As the seed and flower catalogs pour in, I think of you painting . . .
Gorgeous colour cathy and you sure are sticking to your guns of loosening up. How do you possibly go into an art suppliers and only buy one thing?? I'd say thats impossible. Happy and successful wishes for 2011.
You always get such rich, non-muddy colors.
Good for you for showing restraint and getting only one tube of color.
Hello Cathy,
I love your dog paintings. Even with the "blue" hue which I wouldn't have noticed until reading it in your blog.
By the way, I'm Carol's husband, otherwise known as "the Husband."
Maybe we can commission you to paint our dog. Great stuff!
I just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying your blog and you art! I love all the vibrant colors especially - you give watercolors a lovely boisterous expression!! :)
How did you know I was thinking about you??
Take your inspiration and E - X - P - A - N - D !
:)
Happy MLK Day!
